A scene in the neiborhood. 04/21/2012
Add Comment Getty Center, a photo that is unusual 04/21/2012
Herb Ritts is now on exhibition in Getty Center and I visited. Parking fee is rising to $15 comparing the first time I visited Getty Center in 2001, back then $8? Did you guys double your income? I planned to go by bus but I had to give up, there was no easy way to arrive, even I live half block away from Wilshire. I walked into a room where I thought I am OK to take photos but the security ask me not to, any way, I click before he showed up. This is a cliché photo to me. And very interesting. It is been a while I did not update my blog. Wow, she is the reason why and now I get a perfect model, aha, at least for some years she will not say no when I want to take photos of her. Kids of modern society will soon learn the way of independence, and when she sees this photo I made of an antique camera, I hope she enjoys it and, hopefully is in accordance with me in appreciating photography, arts and most important, life! Double Rainbows, Deux Arcs du ciel 11/14/2011
This maybe the 2nd time I saw double rainbows in the sky. Pretty cool. For sure this was the first time I had a Hasselblad on hand, so this was a moment unexpected. I intended to shoot some "fire" clouds and the rainbows were bonus. However, at the end it does not matter what I caught. We had some great time in that specific moment, at that spot and it was good enough. Spring 2011 11/02/2011
I like trees in an urban environment. From time to time I found trees in the urban context are very attractive as photographic subjects. When I am looking for housing, renting or buying, I observe the trees in that area and those streets. I avoid area without trees. Today I began to digitalize some films I shot before I bought my scanner. I found this one possible shot in early April this year. I like this composition. I have not look up to the sky for a while from then on. As a researcher of urban culture though cameras, I do really need to look at all different angles. Medium Format Wrap up 10/25/2011
![]() Hasselblad 500cm, 80mm kit lens. I have been shooting 6x6 format for a while. Just count the archive sleeves and there are over 30 pages now. In comparing to 35mm format, medium format, in my case, Hasseblad and Rolleiflex, is easier to get you into the mood of framing photography because the weight on your hand, and the bright viewfinders, also the square format eliminate the options of doing portrait or landscape format. Less options will force you think more, and in return gets better images. Of course, the larger film brings back further details. It was quite foggy this weekend in Ocean Park of Santa Monica. I happened to park in front of this tree, petite tree, and before taking this photo I walked around and tried to find something interesting to shoot. Then I came back to the spot, saw a man in the hat, I click without any hesitation. Socal In the Rain 10/20/2011

Los Angeles as Seen Flat 09/29/2011
![]() This is on 710 North before 60. Get a chance to hold an M3 and 400 film at hand, and not driving, I am able to shoot at 1/500 at f8. This is the scene LA people mostly are seeing everyday. Are you having fun? I feel sick about this and I prefer walking in the streets, and I can stop anytime, anywhere and relax, look, or wonder around. Who made Southern California such a region so dependent on cars? It is really rotten and a waste of such beautiful Mediterranean Climate. | Roger Qiu
